Need a credit card?
Which one?
How do you choose a credit card that really meets your needs? There’s a service for that.
No, it’s not an iPhone app – but it’s just as practical. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, a federal government organization, has a very practical tool on its Web site to help you find your way through the maze of credit card services offered by Canadian financial institutions. The Agency also has a Credit Card Calculator that can help you plan how to pay off your credit card balance.
There is a similar selection tool for the chequing and savings accounts available from Canadian financial institutions.
It takes just a few clicks. You will be asked to answer some questions and set filters that will refine the list of products available on the market to the options that best suit your situation. You can then compare features. It has been awhile since the page was last updated, but the basic information provided remains extremely useful.
